A co-op word game about thinking alike, but not too alike. Everyone writes a one word clue for the guesser, and any clue two people write disappears before the guesser sees it. The team wins together, one word at a time.
The board game this is styled on spends half its time comparing clue cards and arguing about whether two clues count as identical. Joypod cancels duplicates silently and exactly, variants included, so the funny part (watching the perfect clue vanish) stays and the bookkeeping goes away.
It is the friendliest game on Joypod: no liar, no votes against anyone, no elimination. Mixed ages and mixed confidence groups play it well, and because every clue is typed on a private phone, it works over a call exactly as it does in one room.
Yes. One Word is completely free, with no account, no download, and no ads.
One Word plays with 3 to 7 players. One guesses each round while the rest write clues, and the guesser rotates so everyone gets the same number of turns.
Any clue that matches another player's clue is removed before the guesser sees anything. Case and punctuation do not matter, and word family variants count as the same clue: beach and beaches cancel each other, and so do bouche and bouchée. A longer word with a single typo letter counts as the same clue too. Genuinely different clues that only look alike, like beach and peach, both survive.
No. The app rejects a clue that matches the secret word, so you always have to go at least one step sideways.
No. One Word is Joypod's own game in the style of Just One. Joypod is not affiliated with Repos Production.
